I apologize for falling behind in my blogging. We are heading to Hawaii after the game on Saturday so this week has been busy.
Well it seems like just yesterday we were getting excited about practice starting for the season and now it's almost over. I will have a season ending recap after the game saturday. I will miss these guys after this weekend, they are a fun bunch to work with.
Today's practice is at Town Hall, we will be practicing special teams then have a little fun and then have a pizza party. The kids have worked hard all year and we wanted this week to be a little fun, since it is our last week.
Saturday's game is at home at Town Hall, black jerseys.
Just a few reminders. The varsity won their 1st round playoff game Tuesday night 6-0 in 2ot vs. Madison Memorial, so now they are on to play Middleton (8-1) at home at 7 p.m. Saturday, if the boys go dress warm and wear youth attire if possible. Also Nov. 13th is the christmas parade if you wanted to march with the football club contact Rob Whitemore, if not please come cheer us on. Last our season end banquet is November 17th @ 6:00 p.m. at the high school north cafeteria. I am excited to get to present these guys their awards.
So I'll see everyone tonight and Go Hartford Youth Football, all teams are dedicating this weekends games to the family of Dan Goodreau, who passed away tragically in a motorcycle accident last week. He was a manager for 7th grade Orange and had been for the past 2 years as well. You will be missed Dan..............

Directions to Brookfield Central H.S.
If you go on Hartford Youth Football's website, @ the home page click on schedules. Look at the Orange teams (any grade level) week 2 results you will see Brookfield highlighted in blue, click on that and it will bring up the map to Central. Basically it is just North of Brookfield square mall. Any questions please call or e-mail.
We only have 1 game left after this. Next week and I won't know the opponent until Sunday again.
I'll comment more after practice tonight. I think these guys are pretty fired up to win another game. If we play within our game plan we'll be good.
Also anyone interested in marching in the christmas parade nov. 13th @ 3:00 please e-mail Rob Whitemore. This is a fun parade, we get to let the kids wear their uniforms and we run play's on the street. If you attended any parades the past few years you may have seen us. There will be a later equipment return date for anyone who marches.

What a tough loss. We played our hearts out today. Turnovers hurt but we should have played tighter on defense and we could have kept ourselves in the game. We will work more on shoreing up the defense. The kids played with great emotion today and had a heck of a second half. Bryce patin ran hard today and was just as good on defense. kevin was worked in slowly coming off his injury and had a few good hard runs. Meinerz as always was stout on defense. game ball goes to Patin, everyone played well, just a few breakdowns. Losing sucks no matter how you look at it, but this is still youth football and I want to pull the positives out of every game and make this experience fun, as well as teach these guys Hartford football, if we lose we can learn from that, if we lose our poise that's tough and these guys get emotional, but as long as we come back focused and ready for the next opponent and learn from the mistakes we will have some success. At this level it's about playing, learning and loving the game of football, and i want each and every boy out there to do just that. That being said we will focus on our next opponent and look forward to success next week.
Practices will be done @ 6:30 starting tuesday.
Next week we are on the road again, I will not know the opponent until sunday/monday, so make sure the White jersey's are washed this week.
Boys enjoy the weekend, hold your heads high on a battle well fought, we lost but we will contiunue to fight.
Go Black, see you monday.

Well, another week of practice in the books. If the boys carry the enthusiasm they have this week, into the game Saturday, they'll give themselves a great shot at success. I can't wait.
Today at school, if they wear a jersey, make sure they wear their white (road) jersey.
I need boys to toss T-shirts tonight, so find me at the varsity game if you're going and want to help out.
Please make sure the boys start drinking lots of liquids today already, Arrowhead has the field turf, and even tho' it will only be @ 50 degrees out at our game, the turf will feel warmer and it has a way of zapping energy out of you. I don't want anyone cramping up or getting sick. That being said it is a great field to play on, the kids always love it.
So we'll see everyone tomorrow morning.

Hello again, as I sit down for a bowl of cereal on my way to work, I thought I'd drop a note.
Today is Culver's day so use the coupon and enjoy.
Also as we near the end of the season, you may have noticed the note on the side of the blog page regarding the parade. We always try and get @ 11-15 kids to march in the christmas parade each year. This year it is Nov. 13th. We try and have @ 4 boys hand out candy or ?? and 11 boys to line up and run some plays periodically throughout the parade route. Last year we actually won 1st place in the walking division. It is a lot of fun for us to get together one last time and show our community what we can do. So if you are able to be there and want to walk with us, please let coach Whitemore know via his e-mail.
Only 2 weeks left, WOW where does the time go. Another good practice Tuesday, as we get ready for Arrowhead(Lake Country).
That's all for now, see ya.

Hello
Welcome, for those who are new to my blog.
On Saturday after the game I handed out the Culver's fundraiser coupon, be sure to use that tomorrow if possible. It is a fundraiser for our club, 10% of your purchase will get returned to our club. If you didn't get one let me know I will get one to you tonight.
Our practice last night was good, it is important to not let 1 win go to our heads, so we are trying to keep the kids grounded and focuse on the next game.
Tonight we will do defense and try to get done a little early due to the darkness.
Varsity is at home Friday so the kids should wear their black jersey's to school this week.
That should be all for now.

Finally, whew, winning sure does make the weekend more enjoyable. What a great win for these boys. Everyone played their guts out in the heat. Patin ran hard, Tommy ran hard, Kyle, Robinson, and Wagner fought through some injuries and together the whole team held their heads up and played tough for all 32 minutes. Game balls went to Sandoval on offense and Moskow (big interception) on defense. Way to go guys.
Now we need to build off this and take this momentum into Arrowhead next week.
Practice's again are from4:45-6:45 But we may finish a little earlier, last night I noticed it was getting dark @ 6:30 so we'll play this week by ear.
Take this time to enjoy the win and we'll see everyone monday afternoon.

Just a quick reminder, Saturday's game is at Hartford, but it is behind the High School on the JV field (next to our practice fields).
Be there by 9, and remember to wear our white jersey's. We are the away team.
We had a really good week of practice, I've seen more life in these guys this week than I have in a while. Let's go get 'em.

Game 4 vs. Slinger
Hello again,
This was not the outcome we expected today, we had had a great week of practice, but you cannot account for turnovers when game planning. We tried this week to get more kids more playing time, with the injuries we've incurred this past week it was a little easier, I hope the boys at least enjoy getting on the field and playing. The losses are discouraging but they are still getting to play football and they should enjoy what they are doing.
we will address the defense this week again and some changes may be looming. Offensively we may have to try and mix things up a little to help protect the backfield, not just our QB, but our entire backfield. that may require player changes but that also means players should be fighting harder for their jobs and playing time.
I wish i would have been able to be there for the entire game, but Kyle required an ambulence ride (not fun) The good news is he is fine, just a bit of a headache. The doctor said years ago they would call this getting your bell rung. he is in good spirits, just bummed he had to miss the rest of the game.
Please let all of your kids know that playing time and starting spots are wide open as of now, in an effort to get better we need all the boys to give it their best, those who want it will stand out. At this point in the season I really want everyone to get as much playing time as possible.
One last note we will start practice at 4:45 and finish at 6:45 for the next few weeks. That time may change again if it keeps getting dark earlier but for now this will be good.
I am very proud of all these boys because no matter the score they are always trying to come back, and that is a great attitude to have. they could be hanging their heads but i always hear positive comments behind me on the sideline, and at this age that is great. I want to get these boys a win as much as they do so we will go back at it monday and work on WB east. Don't forget that game will be played at Hartford, on the JV behind the High School, (the one by our practice fields).
Well that should be enough, remember boys, keep a positive attitude, at home, at school, and at practice.
WE CAN, WE WILL.

Hello, well another hard fought game, unfortunately another loss. The positives were there, we ran the ball better. The passing game was open we just didn't connect as often as we should have. Defensively we played well except for a few plays, and as we tell the boys, the game comes down to a few plays and this time they made more than we did, I think we gave them a few by some missed tackles but that's the play. We will go back at it again this week in an effort to make more plays than Slinger. We will work more on tackling and continue to teach technique at all positions.
Game balls went to Noennig, Robinson, and Seramur. Robinson has made good strides since we switched him to receiver, and made a great adjustment on a long TD reception. Seramur made a great play on and interception. Noennig was all over the field on Defense again, and made a nice throw for the TD.
See you all at practice tonight.

Oshkosh Game
Hello again, these kids are definately ready to get their 1st win. We have been preparing them for the Oshkosh game and they have responded better this week in practice than the 1st 2 games.
I asked them to get some rest friday night and not stay up too late, since we need to leave Hartford by @ 8:00 a.m. weather should be o.k. and spirits should be high.
To get directions go to www.AAYFL.org and find the page with the teams listed ( not the map Icon on the home page, that is just a map of WI.) then click on Oshkosh West.
I hope to see everyone there. I am not sure yet if i will be allowed to coach, i was suspended earlier in the week for arguing with the officials last saturday after the game. We have appealed and have not heard back yet. So if I am not on the sidelines that is why. Our team and staff is prepared to win one for the gipper. I sure want to be there 'tho this is what we volunteer for, to watch our kids play and to be told you can't, well it's hard. i am proud of the way the team has responded this week and hope to get their best effort yet.
See ya.

Hello again, I sure hope the rain holds off tonight. I wanted to drop a quick note to everyone to let all the parents know how we look this week. We made a few adjustments on defense and the kids really took to it. Made it a little easier for them, hopefully that transfers to the game. Also added a few wrinkles on Offense to open it up a little, we don't want 1 kid carrying the load, this should give us more opportunities.
Practice today is at town hall, I told all the boys after practcie tuesday.
See ya later.

Game 9-18
Well we made a terrific comeback in the 2nd half. Those kids turned it on in the second half. I told our boys if we can put together 4 quarters of the effort they showed then, we will be a very good football team. I was happy and proud of the way they responded in the 2nd half. They could have held their heads but they didn't. jason Schmidt in particular was puking during warmups and didn't play the 1st ahlf he asked to play in the 2nd half to try and help his team, that is awesome. Win or lose that attitude is what I like in a team, and we are a team.
as for my behavior with the referee, while the call was right i felt the rules were not being enforced for yardage and wanted to defend my team and our kids safety. In end i feel I represented our entire club poorly acting that way and I want to apologize to all the parents and fans who witnessed it. I don't usually get that animated, but when the safety of our kids could be at stake I will fight for that.
We have practice tonight, tuesday and thursday. Thursday will be at Town Hall again.
We are at Oshkosh on Saturday for a map go www.AAYFL.org. We wear our white road jersey's.
thanks

Hello again! Well we are fast approaching game #2. We've had a good week of practice trying to clean up some of the mistakes we made last week. These boys make me proud each practice with their ability to learn and correct what they are doing wrong, this is a direct result of desire to succeed and their ability to pay attention, which at 7th grade level sometimes is hard.
We will be practicing at the High School like normal tonight. However, next thrusday and each thursday from now on we will be at Town hall.
The club is still looking for parent volunteer hours. It is my understanding that we only have 1 person in concessions on saturday for our game, so if you or anyone you know from a different grade level can work please contact Mary Jo Vanderheiden.
We do practice rain or shine, I hope the rain holds off for us today.....If there is lightning we will cancel practice.
Well 'til next time

Game 1
Well not what I wanted the first week, I really wanted a win for these guys, but I tell you what, that was a tough well fought game. I told the boys in our post game huddle they have no reason what so ever to hang their heads they just went toe-toe with a good football team and played their guts out, sometimes you lose a football game. We now have a few things to coach them up on and clean up some little things but if we stay within our gameplan we'll be fine. I thought it was a heck of a game.
Practices are now mon-tue-thursday. NO MORE WEDNESDAY'S. Our next game is against West Bend West on Saturday at home again, let's hope for sunshine.

Game Time
Good morning all, We wrapped up pre-season practices yesterday, some good things some not so good things happened, but again, an encouraging sign was recognizing what we did wrong and the players fixing it on the field. I hope that carries over to games.
I am excited for saturday to kick this season off.
We start at home that is always good. This year we play Wauwatosa West @ 10:30. I have told the boys repeatedly to be there by 9 and ready to start stretching at 9:15. If they are late (not on the field helmets and pads strapped on and in their lines ready to stretch by 9:15) they will not start or they will miss their first rotation if they are not a starter.
Players, start getting excited today ramp up the energy and come ready to show everyone some Oriole excitement.

Welcome to september! Hopefully the weather stays as nice this month as it did in August for us.
We are starting to install our special teams units this week. We will also be done installing all of our offense today, i am very excited about that, now we can really focus on teaching aqnd correcting the little things and get ready for next Saturday's home opener.
Friday night is youth night at the varsity. I would like all players from grades 5-8 to attend. we will parade onto the field at halftime, we will toss T-shirts and form a tunnel for the varsity players to run thru. All very fun things for the youth program to do at a varsity game and kinda be part of the action. the 8th grade teams will have a brief scrimmage amongst themselves also at halftime. Due to a new rule in the AAYFL the teams cannot scrimmage each other , they will be scrimmage Orange offense vs. Orange defense and Black offense vs. Black defense, still very exciting for those boys to showcase their young talent on Gib Mahr field. Hope to see all of you there.
If you haven't turned in fundraiser packets I need them by thursday.
Wristbands are availabe at practices, Mrs. Schwalbach has them by her truck in the parking lot before each practice.
That should do it for now. see you tonite

August 30th
Well our scrimmages are in the books. A few comments from saturday. I thought overall we were o.k. we started out slow and unmotivated, that falls on me and I will get them up from here on out. At a scrimmage i like to observe the 1st part in the morning to see how our kids respond to adversity after finishing strong at the last scrimmage, I was encouraged by their ability again to recognize something that went wrong and correct it themselves. If we would have started with energy and confidence we would have fared much better against Slinger. That being said i think the defense really picked it up against BD and Grafton, and Offensively we did better against those 2 also, you have to remember it is tiring for some of those guys after 3 hours, our normal games go @ 1 1/2 hours. I thought we finished strong and will carry that momentum to the next 2 weeks of pracitice before it counts for real.
Today's practice ends at 6:30.
don't forget to turn in your fundraiser packets I need all of them turned in.
Also don't forget to have a wristband by wednesday, we want to start installing some no huddle then. Mrs. Schwalbach or her daughter will have them at practice monday they are $12.66 you have to pay her.
We don't have practice this saturday or next monday due to Labor Day, so enjoy the time off.

Grafton scrimmage
Well one more warm-up before we get rockin' and rollin'.
The boys should all wear the same as wednesday, White jersey/black pants.
Get plenty of rest. Be there by 7:45 ready to stretch at 8:00.
The kids looked good yesterday in team drills, let's hope they bring that energy and commitment to the scrimmage.
I also want to get a jump on thanking all you parents for taking the time to get these guys everywhere, without you this would be difficult, so Thank You.
Don't forget to get your fundraiser packets to me asap.
Also Mrs. Schwalbach has the wristbands with her they are $12.66, when you pay HER you will get a wristband. We would like all players to have them by monday so we can start working on our "no-huddle"
See you in the morning.

Germatown scrimage
Well our 1st action against someone else went well. We talked to the boys afterwards and told them they should be proud of their efforts today, but not cocky. We haven't done anything yet, but, what we as coaches saw today was very encouraging. They improved from the 1st snap to the end. Our 2nd session tonight was much better, and we picked up the tempo defensively and that turned on the offense. I was very happy with that, and very proud of them guys for making the adjustments everytime something happened they played off that and learned. Great job.
Tonight is regular practice.
Saturday be at Grafton (behind Grafton High School on Hwy 60) ready to go by 8:00 a.m.
Please return fundraiser packets today.

Tuesday 8-24
Well another successfull picture day under our belts, what a good looking team!
We unfortunately lost a practice due to pictures, but the kids had fun hangin' out and sometimes they need that.
We have 1 more practice until our first action against someone else. It is important for the kids to remember that we are only scrimmageing and this isn't actually a game. We are goign to look rough around the edges at some things until we figure out what plays work well and which ones don't as well as who can play where. This is part of what makes a scrimmgage so important for us as coaches, we can always look good against ourselves, but it is a better indicator of where we are when we go against another team.
Please have the boys be at Germantown and ready to warm up by 4:30 wednesday. If that is too early just let me know and get there as soon as you can.
If you haven't turned in fundraiser packets please do so by wednesday.
We will be getting the offense fine tuned tonight at practice so the boys should be ready for some game action and as always bring plenty of liquids to stay hydrated.
Until next time, thank you all for all you do, I truly appreciate you as parents taking the time to let your kids participate in football.

Hello again!
We've had a great couple of practices the past few days. The defense is coming along great, and the offense we are slowly installing all our plays. I am very happy with how well these guys are picking up all the formations and plays we can run out of them.

Picture day is monday at Gib Mahr field(Varsity) be there in home black jersey/pants by 4:45.
Also don't forget to turn in your fundraiser packets by saturday also.
For now that should do it.

August 17th
Well now that the teams are split we can get down to business. I am very pleased to have the boys that are the 7th grade black team, welcome.
We had a good defensive practice monday, we are installing the defense that we will be using this year and it is a bit different than they used in 6th grade so we are ironing out the few bugs that always come with that, but what a great group of kids, they are getting it down quick.
Tuesday will be Offense.
The fundraiser packets are being sent home with everyone, if you did not get one or don't understand what to do, please contact me asap. We would like them returned by saturday if possible.
Our 1st scrimmage is next wednesday @ Germantown from 5:30-7:30 so be there by 4:30.
Next monday August 23rd is picture day. We need to have the boys at the varsity field (Gib Mahr) by 4:45 in their Home (black) jerseys and pants.
See ya tomorrow.

Wow, the season is finally here. I am so excited to get working with this years group! For those who don't know this is my second year as head coach, my assistants are also with me again for a second year, I am very excited about that.
Just a few quick thought's. We'd like the boys at the practice fields and ready to go by 4:45. We have them stretching on their own before we start practice. Also try and make the boys drink lots of water during the day before they come to practice, this will help avoid dehydration. I also would like the boys t0 wear their mouth guards starting today. On Wednesday the 11th I am going to have them wear their full practice gear, but we cannot have contact until 6 p.m. thursday for those who have made every practice, but this will give them a day to get reaquainted with wearing pads on the field.
On Saturday the 14th we are having our parent meeting at 9:30 while we finish practice. After your meeting I ask that you come over to our practice and i will have a little team meeting with all of you to introduce our staff's and our expectations. There will be a cookout to follow as well as the varsity scrimmage, that we encourage as many of you to attend as possible.
We are going to split teams after practice thursday, so when the boys get to practice Saturday morning we will inform them of what teams they are on.
I am very excited to get the season going and look forward to 9-11 (p.s. Don't ever forget) for our 1st game.
take care and see at football.
