August 30th

Well our scrimmages are in the books. A few comments from saturday. I thought overall we were o.k. we started out slow and unmotivated, that falls on me and I will get them up from here on out. At a scrimmage i like to observe the 1st part in the morning to see how our kids respond to adversity after finishing strong at the last scrimmage, I was encouraged by their ability again to recognize something that went wrong and correct it themselves. If we would have started with energy and confidence we would have fared much better against Slinger. That being said i think the defense really picked it up against BD and Grafton, and Offensively we did better against those 2 also, you have to remember it is tiring for some of those guys after 3 hours, our normal games go @ 1 1/2 hours. I thought we finished strong and will carry that momentum to the next 2 weeks of pracitice before it counts for real.

Today's practice ends at 6:30.

don't forget to turn in your fundraiser packets I need all of them turned in.

Also don't forget to have a wristband by wednesday, we want to start installing some no huddle then. Mrs. Schwalbach or her daughter will have them at practice monday they are $12.66 you have to pay her.

We don't have practice this saturday or next monday due to Labor Day, so enjoy the time off.

Until next time

Grafton scrimmage

Well one more warm-up before we get rockin' and rollin'.

The boys should all wear the same as wednesday, White jersey/black pants.

Get plenty of rest. Be there by 7:45 ready to stretch at 8:00.

The kids looked good yesterday in team drills, let's hope they bring that energy and commitment to the scrimmage.

I also want to get a jump on thanking all you parents for taking the time to get these guys everywhere, without you this would be difficult, so Thank You.

Don't forget to get your fundraiser packets to me asap.

Also Mrs. Schwalbach has the wristbands with her they are $12.66, when you pay HER you will get a wristband. We would like all players to have them by monday so we can start working on our "no-huddle"

See you in the morning.

Germatown scrimage

Well our 1st action against someone else went well. We talked to the boys afterwards and told them they should be proud of their efforts today, but not cocky. We haven't done anything yet, but, what we as coaches saw today was very encouraging. They improved from the 1st snap to the end. Our 2nd session tonight was much better, and we picked up the tempo defensively and that turned on the offense. I was very happy with that, and very proud of them guys for making the adjustments everytime something happened they played off that and learned. Great job.

Tonight is regular practice.

Saturday be at Grafton (behind Grafton High School on Hwy 60) ready to go by 8:00 a.m.

Please return fundraiser packets today.

Tuesday 8-24

Well another successfull picture day under our belts, what a good looking team!

We unfortunately lost a practice due to pictures, but the kids had fun hangin' out and sometimes they need that.

We have 1 more practice until our first action against someone else. It is important for the kids to remember that we are only scrimmageing and this isn't actually a game. We are goign to look rough around the edges at some things until we figure out what plays work well and which ones don't as well as who can play where. This is part of what makes a scrimmgage so important for us as coaches, we can always look good against ourselves, but it is a better indicator of where we are when we go against another team.

Please have the boys be at Germantown and ready to warm up by 4:30 wednesday. If that is too early just let me know and get there as soon as you can.

If you haven't turned in fundraiser packets please do so by wednesday.

We will be getting the offense fine tuned tonight at practice so the boys should be ready for some game action and as always bring plenty of liquids to stay hydrated.

Until next time, thank you all for all you do, I truly appreciate you as parents taking the time to let your kids participate in football.

Aug. 19th 2010

Hello again!

We've had a great couple of practices the past few days. The defense is coming along great, and the offense we are slowly installing all our plays. I am very happy with how well these guys are picking up all the formations and plays we can run out of them.

A few notes. Thursday the 7th grade teams will scrimmage each other as a final tune-up before we start scrimmaging other teams. Our scrimmage again is next wednesday the 25th at Germantown, be there by 4:30.

Don't forget we have practice this saturday from 8:30-11:00.

Picture day is monday at Gib Mahr field(Varsity) be there in home black jersey/pants by 4:45.

Also don't forget to turn in your fundraiser packets by saturday also.

For now that should do it.

August 17th

Well now that the teams are split we can get down to business. I am very pleased to have the boys that are the 7th grade black team, welcome.

We had a good defensive practice monday, we are installing the defense that we will be using this year and it is a bit different than they used in 6th grade so we are ironing out the few bugs that always come with that, but what a great group of kids, they are getting it down quick.

Tuesday will be Offense.

The fundraiser packets are being sent home with everyone, if you did not get one or don't understand what to do, please contact me asap. We would like them returned by saturday if possible.

Our 1st scrimmage is next wednesday @ Germantown from 5:30-7:30 so be there by 4:30.

Next monday August 23rd is picture day. We need to have the boys at the varsity field (Gib Mahr) by 4:45 in their Home (black) jerseys and pants.

See ya tomorrow.

Wow, the season is finally here. I am so excited to get working with this years group! For those who don't know this is my second year as head coach, my assistants are also with me again for a second year, I am very excited about that.

Just a few quick thought's. We'd like the boys at the practice fields and ready to go by 4:45. We have them stretching on their own before we start practice. Also try and make the boys drink lots of water during the day before they come to practice, this will help avoid dehydration. I also would like the boys t0 wear their mouth guards starting today. On Wednesday the 11th I am going to have them wear their full practice gear, but we cannot have contact until 6 p.m. thursday for those who have made every practice, but this will give them a day to get reaquainted with wearing pads on the field.

On Saturday the 14th we are having our parent meeting at 9:30 while we finish practice. After your meeting I ask that you come over to our practice and i will have a little team meeting with all of you to introduce our staff's and our expectations. There will be a cookout to follow as well as the varsity scrimmage, that we encourage as many of you to attend as possible.

We are going to split teams after practice thursday, so when the boys get to practice Saturday morning we will inform them of what teams they are on.

I am very excited to get the season going and look forward to 9-11 (p.s. Don't ever forget) for our 1st game.

take care and see at football.
